If you are a downtown Baltimore resident, you’ll know that today the city was covered in fog and mist. Really gross weather. I mean, rain can be fun and pretty and make you want to cuddle up and watch a movie but mist, mist is just downright gross. I really wanted to go out and shoot some landscapes today but that wasn’t happening. BUT it did remind me of some photos that I took the day that it snowed and misted, some of which turned out pretty cool despite my lens fogging out and my constant cleaning of my lens with my scarf which in turn just made it worse.
So snow and mist can make neat photos, just don’t expect them to be completely in focus. I guess I should invest in a lens hood for my film gear but I didn’t even think about it until this day. Kodak Portra was used, which helped in making the colors vibrant on this white/grey day. I kind of liked the fuzziness of some of the shots. Often times on idea forums I see people suggest putting vaseline on their lenses to create a cool effect, please NEVER EVER EVER EVER do that. You’ll ruin your lens.
These photos were taken in Druid Hill Park. A nice little area if you aren’t familiar.
